The Army Welfare Project (AWP) established in 1976 Buthan's modern liquor industry. AWP is a company incorporated under the Companies Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan and focused on bottling quality whisky, rum, gin, etc. The company is constantly growing its portfolio of brands focussing the Indian and international markets. The company produces i.e. Buthan Mist Pure Malt Whisky, Coronation Silver Jubilee Whisky, Apsoo XXX Rum and Dragon Rum. Presently AWP Gelephu has around 18.44 acre area including a water treatment plant, manufacturing unit and a guest house.
